PET SYMPTOMS
ATO1T Atopica for Dogs

Atopic Dermatitis is a term used to refer to the overall inflammatory process of the skin. This inflammatory process is most commonly due to allergens of the skin. These allergic reactions can be mild or severe enough to require medical attention. Allergic reactions can be due to a number of conditions; common to northern America allergens such as environmental, mites, and chemical reactions.

A pet which displays this allergic reaction may develop urticaria, or hives. Hives is a sign of an allergic reaction as some form of external element has caused the immune system to over activate itself. The immune system protects pets from harmful microbes, such as parasites, viruses, fungi, and bacteria. It is a rather intelligent system since antibodies form antigens specifically for the harmful microbe while avoiding harming surrounding tissues and organs. In the case of an allergic reaction, however, this highly developed immune system over produces white blood cells and histamine. Signs and symptoms of a pet with an allergic reaction include; shock, breathing difficulties, diarrhea, and weakness, itching, and swelling of the face. These allergic reactions can be caused by external elements such as dander, shampoos, sprays, fleas, or mites.

PET AILMENTS
Allergies are impossible to cure but are very easy to treat. Pets which develop allergic conditions will display aliments such as hives, swelling around the face and neck, reddened skin, loss of hair, biting, chewing, and excessive licking.

Three conditions commonly treated by Albon Suspension in both dogs and cats include; coccidiosis, staph infection, and colibacillosis.
Coccidiosis is a disease caused by a microscopic parasite called Coccidia. It usually affects the intestinal system, causing a liquid-like diarrhea with mucus in its early stages, and bloody feces, incontinence, weakness, vomiting, decreased weight, and fever as the condition progresses. If the condition is left untreated, more serious complications may also develop such as; seizures, dehydration, and organ damage.
A Staphylococcus infection is caused by bacteria that spread from host to host, including from one animal to another, and even from an animal to a human being. Due to its ability to survive in just about any environment, it is the cause of many bacterial infections around the world. Symptoms caused by the condition can vary greatly because it can affect different parts of the body. Some of the most seen symptoms include; decreased appetite, fever, skin abscesses, mouth sores, respiratory issues (nasal discharge, coughing, wheezing, etc.), itchiness, skin inflammation, eye discharge, and arthritis. The bacteria can also enter the bloodstream, causing a life-threatening condition called septicemia.
Colibacillosis, also known E. coli, is a condition caused by a tiny organism that invades the intestinal tract. Most mammals carry E. coli without showing any signs of disease; however, it can become a problem, especially in animals with weak or compromised immune systems. The onset of colibacillosis is spontaneous, and leads to symptoms such as; decreased activity, loss of appetite, nausea/vomiting, fast heartbeat, lethargy, liquid diarrhea, hypothermia, and blue/pale gums.

An ear mite is a microscopic insect that lives in both animal and human ears. The ear mite resembles a slight resemblance to that of a tick, having several legs and crawls around inside the ear. The most commonly seen species of ear mite is the Otodectes cynotis in veterinary medicine. The name of this species literally means ear bitter of dogs, although, over 90 percent of ear mites infections in cats is due to this species. These eight legged ear mites love to crawl around the inside of the ear, feeding on oils and wax of the inner ear which poses to be an extreme irritant to pets. The first sign a pet owner will take note of is scratching of the ears. Pets also exhibit, rubbing their ears across the floor, rolling about and shaking their heads. When examining the ears, pet owners will note a dark, coffee ground looking substance as well as a dark colored wax. The pinna (external ear) will be swollen, red, and inflamed due to scratching from the pet.

Fleas attach themselves to pets in order to consume their blood. As these tiny pests take their blood meals, the skin inflames causing pets to itch and scratch excessively. The dog flea; Ctenocephalides canis, are tiny, just 1-5 mm in size having flat bodies. Pet owners may not be able to view the fleas themselves but will be able to view a product known as flea dander. Flea dander appears as black dirt within the pet’s hair, this so called dirt is in fact digested blood defecated by the flea. Fleas not only infect the dog themselves but act as a vector for tapeworms and bartonellosis disease.
Parasites cause a great deal of healthy problems to the pet as well as to pregnant females as these worms can infect cats and dog before they are born. Vomiting, dry textured hair, loss of weight, blood in the stool, diarrhea, and an overall poor condition, are just a few of the commonly seen symptoms. Internal parasites can inter the pet in a number of ways; flea infestations, contaminated water, infected food products, mosquitoes, and fecal contamination are all ways a cat can become infected.
PET AILMENTS
As a pet owner, it is difficult to prevent external parasitic infestation during warm months. In order to keep your pet’s healthy; dedication to treatments and proper care is a must. Pet aliments associated with these conditions include; anemia, lethargy, purities, hairless, weight loss, and otitis.
