Product Info
Allermyl is a shampoo for dogs and cats used to manage skin conditions caused by allergies. The product comes in 8 fl. oz. and 16 fl. oz. containers.
What the product cures
Allermyl helps alleviate symptoms associated with allergies affecting the skin. It doesn’t contain coloring or perfume as most shampoos do, which also prevents more symptoms from developing.
Pet Symptoms
The most common symptoms caused by allergies in felines and canines are skin related. Contrary to humans, allergies in dogs and cats don’t typically affect the respiratory tract, but rather trigger inflammation of the skin. This condition is also referred to as dermatitis, and causes a variety of symptoms including; itchiness, biting or licking affected areas excessively, rubbing skin on objects or floor to relieve itching, redness, hair loss, skin lesions/sores, scab formation, irritation, and hot spots.
There is no cure for allergies in pets, but the condition can be managed by relieving symptoms with drugs such as antihistamines and medicated shampoos. Avoiding contact with potential allergens, whether it is an ingredient in food, chemicals in products, or environmental factors can also help prevent an allergy attack.
Pet Ailments
Skin problems are one of the most common health issues seen in pets. They can be caused by various factors such as; bacteria, yeast, allergens, and parasites. The skin is also considered to be a good indicator of a pet’s health, as it is directly influenced by other body systems (such as the gastrointestinal system).
Skin-related conditions can be anything from mild irritation to more debilitating problems requiring lifetime care, and they can be either primary or secondary, meaning that they are the primary condition or develop due symptoms or problems associated with a primary condition. Some examples of skin ailments in pets include; canine atopic dermatitis, Cushing’s Syndrome, and lick granulomas.
